How We Run Our Streams

I have made a system that is quite unique. I have looked all over the internet and from what I have seen is there is no "right way" to go about trying to stream your VEX Robotics event. Really, what it boils down to is: can you get the image to a live stream provider. For my system, I use YouTube, and stream the events to my youtube channel KSVEX. For the actual in-person event capture, I use USB webcams that I have hooked up to some Rasberry Pis. This is one of the special parts of my system, becuase running on those Raspis is a program called Dicaffeine. Using this program, I am able to capture the camera feed and send it through the wired ethernet conection that each Pi has, and connect that all back up to my main streaming PC. Each of the Pis is also powered over this ethernet cable using POE+ and a POE+ switch. This simplifies how many cables I have to run when setting things up, very simple as it is just one cable per Pi and it supplies power and data.

What to Expect

If you want me to come and set up at your event, it will be very simple on your end. I would bring all my gear and set everything up, and the only thing I would need from you is an internet connection that the Tourniment Manager server is running on so I can set up the livestream system to run by itself.
